Today is celebrated a memorable and important day, a remembrance of an act of love and obedience, a decision that changed the future of human race, a sacrifice of one person for the whole world. This is not about chocolate eggs or a bunny, but this is about the Son of God walking in this Earth, to become a lamb going to the slaughterhouse, surrendering his blameless life as a living sacrifice to die on a cross for the remission of our sins.

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 - ESV

“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:8

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

If you think this is about religion, then you think to think again, because you are completely mistaken, this is about restauration, reconciliation, this is about salvation and relationship, this is about an ultimate, eternal and unfailing love.

Because the Bible says the wages of sin is death and we sinned since the beginning of creation, mankind has sinned and the seed of sin is in all of us wanting or not, because the Bible says, for one man, sin entered the world, and because of one man we are all sinners.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Death in Adam, Life in Christ (Romans 5:12-21)

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men[a] because all sinned—for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

Therefore, as one trespass[b] led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness[c] leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Easter is not about hidden chocolate eggs or a bunny, but Easter is about death, sacrifice, resurrection and eternal life in Jesus Christ, because He came to this world, not to condemned the world, but to bring salvation and give us a new life, to teach that His ways are higher than ours, His love and peace surpass all understanding.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18

This is a date to reflect about our lives, to strengthen our relationship with Jesus, celebrate with our families and the church; it’s a time for thanksgiving and worship God for what he has done for us.

But if you don't know Jesus and haven't accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, this may not make sense to you. This means you haven't yet accepted God's gift to you, the gift of Salvation through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Which means you are not yet saved. You need to make a decision today about your eternal life. This body is mortal, but our spirit is eternal, and this decision will define where you will spend eternity when you die: with Jesus or separated from God forever. This is not meant to cause fear, but rather to raise awareness that this life is fleeting and we do not know our future, but Jesus came to give us abundant life today and forever.

Make this decision for yourself, invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, accept His sacrifice by faith in your heart, and repent of your sins. Pray to Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart, read the Bible and learn more about Him.

Seek to be baptized and confess your decision to someone in a Bible-oriented Christian church, so that this person can guide you in your Christian life.
