“Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:13-16 ESV
When Jesus asked His disciples for their opinion of who He was, even though He asked the opinion of others, what He was most interested in knowing was what His disciples believed.
We must not care what people think about our faith, we must be convinced that Jesus wants to know who He is in our life.
Salvation is individual and non-transferable, so we need to have faith about who Jesus is in our lives and in our hearts.
Jesus is not just a story in the Bible.
Jesus is not just a legend to be celebrated on holy holidays.
Jesus is not just a symbol used in jewelry.
Jesus is at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the whole Bible, but Jesus was long before the foundation of the world, he is currently seated at the right hand of the Father and will be reigning in Eternity.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5 ESV
“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:9-14 ESV
Do not allow the distractions, lies and fantasies of this world to take away your faith.
Don't let the scoffers embarrass you for your faith.
Hold on to your faith in Jesus and don't let anyone take your hope away from you.
Jesus is God, God the Son, as well as God the Father.
Jesus spent all eternity with the Father, but He stripped himself of being God and came into the world, made himself human like us, dwelt among us and came to bring us the way of salvation that no one else could.
Because just as the sin of the first man has contaminated all mankind and the blood of an innocent being has been spilled to cover his shame.
It was necessary for the blood of an innocent man to be spilled on the cross to remove the sin of all men.
And only through this one sacrifice of Jesus, does all of humanity have the way of salvation if we simply believe in our hearts and confess that Jesus is the Lord of our lives.
So, Who is Jesus for you?
